‘England Women on Tour’ documentary on Sky Sports

Over Christmas 2016 Sky Sports showed a fascinating documentary ‘England Women on Tour’. It followed the England Women cricket team as they toured the West Indies and Sri Lanka earlier this year.

For any of you with Sky Sports you can still watch it on Catch Up. Here is a link to the trailer.

The documentary gives access to the England squad and you can see how they train, what touring is really like and the pressure of representing your country at the top level. Mark Robinson included Senior Academy players in a 6 day training session in the Middle East. This was to give them an insight into the next level in their playing careers. The role senior professionals played in the squad and helping nurture young talent was refreshing to see. Mark and his staff know how important it is to have people challenging for places all through the squad.

If you get a chance to watch it I’m sure it will entertain and inform you. It is also great to see the women’s game being supported and given a platform by the broadcast media. That level of exposure can only help propel the game to new heights.
